🔍 What Is It?
Golden Brush Art, founded by Kevan Seng in 2008, is a community-powered arts initiative known for Battle of the Brush—a team-based live painting competition that began in a Chapters bookstore and grew into a global platform.
Kevan and several co-founders launched The Art Party in 2010, first as a Facebook group to amplify the mission of promoting local artists and events like The Drift on Main Street. He has built a legacy of inclusion, innovation, and celebration for Vancouver art. These events brought together 10,000+ community members to celebrate local visual and music artists in Mount Pleasant, Vancouver. The Art Party’s “buy local” post was shared 615 times and liked 64 times on Facebook. This inspired the tagline: “Buy Local to Support Local Artists”.
In 2018, Kevan’s high school friend Tony Hu launched the first overseas edition in Beijing. Soon after, artist and advocate Ayni Nuyda brought the event to Manila, Philippines—proving that creativity knows no borders.
In 2020, The Art Party joined forces with the Digital IMPACT Festival, reaching 1.7 million people and raising over $23,000 for charitable causes. From engaging speakers like Earth Charter® representatives to fundraising for the Artist Relief Impact Fund, the event uplifted artists during the pandemic and beyond.
💡 Why It Benefits Users or Small Biz
For small business owners and solopreneurs, Golden Brush Art offers a blueprint for community engagement and brand alignment with local creatives. Sponsoring or hosting events like Battle of the Brush can drive foot traffic, enhance cultural relevance, and foster authentic connections. The Art Party’s outreach tools also help businesses tap into public funding and social impact opportunities.
🛡️ Trust, Safety, and Regulation
Golden Brush Art and The Art Party operate with transparent governance. Their events prioritize cultural safety, accessibility, and fair artist compensation. Kevan also founded Capulet Art & Framing in 2006, which serves as a trusted venue for exhibitions and training, with a track record of representing artists like Raymond Chow and Chrissy Cheung.
🌍 Broader Impact
Kevan’s broader vision is to make Capulet Art & Framing more than a gallery—it will become a vibrant community hub for personal growth, social inclusion, and opportunity. By investing in skill development and artistic engagement, his organizations continue to break down barriers and build bridges between art and everyday life, proving that art isn’t just decoration—it’s infrastructure. By investing in skills training for marginalized youth and seniors, Golden Brush Art and The Art Party are future-proofing creative careers and redefining what inclusive economic development looks like. This partnership model is scalable, replicable, and ready for expansion into new sectors.
