Vancouver Whitecaps FC continue to make history, extending their MLS era club-record unbeaten run to 14 matches in all competitions with a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Real Salt Lake at America First Field. The win also stretches their MLS unbeaten streak to nine—just one shy of the all-time club record.
The match opened in frantic fashion, with Salt Lake grabbing a 2-0 lead within the first four minutes. But the 'Caps quickly regrouped. In the 20th minute, Sebastian Berhalter delivered a perfect corner that Brian White nodded home for his 70th career MLS regular season goal. Moments later, a handball led to a White penalty conversion—his second of the night and 15th goal across all competitions this season.
The teams entered halftime deadlocked at 2-2, with White denied a first-half hat-trick by Salt Lake goalkeeper Rafael Cabral and VAR chalking off a third potential goal.
The second half saw end-to-end action, including key saves by Yohei Takaoka and continued pressure from the Vancouver attack. In the 90th minute, Pedro Vite produced a moment of magic with a sublime left-footed curler to seal the win and complete the comeback.
With the result, Vancouver remains atop both the Western Conference and the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings, boasting a 9W-1L-4D record and 31 points. They are now the only unbeaten road team in MLS this season (4W-0L-3D).
Brian White made history again, becoming the first Whitecaps player in the MLS era to score 15+ goals in three straight seasons and is now just eight goals away from third all-time in club history.
Vancouver now prepares for a midweek clash with Minnesota United FC on May 28 at BC Place, before heading to Mexico for the Concacaf Champions Cup Final on June 1.
Final Score: Real Salt Lake 2 – Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3
