EASTERN CONFERENCE FIREWORKS
The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially entered uncharted territory: the second round of the playoffs without a total meltdown. They dispatched the Ottawa Senators in six games and now prepare to host the Florida Panthers, who clawed their way past the Tampa Bay Lightning with a commanding 4–1 series win. Game 1 drops Monday night in Toronto.
Meanwhile, over in the U.S. capital, Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals are set to battle the Carolina Hurricanes. The Caps took out Montreal with ease, while Carolina dismantled the Devils. Expect power plays and passive-aggressive Southern charm when this one kicks off Tuesday in D.C.
OUT WEST: BIG STARS, BIGGER HITS
The Dallas Stars emerged victorious in a wild Game 7 against the Colorado Avalanche, propelled by the return of Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen. Dallas now waits to see who survives tonight’s Game 7 showdown between the Winnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues.
On the other side of the bracket, the Edmonton Oilers—led by the freakishly dominant Connor McDavid—are set to square off with the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas eliminated Minnesota in six games, while the Oilers dispatched the Kings. Game 1 launches Tuesday in Sin City.
THE HUGHES BROTHERS SAGA
Quinn Hughes, captain of the Vancouver Canucks and the eldest of the Hughes trio, is at the center of swirling trade speculation. Reports suggest a possible move to New Jersey to join younger brothers Jack and Luke. While Hughes remains under contract in Vancouver through 2027, the Devils are rumored to be exploring options to unite hockey’s ultimate sibling squad. Canucks fans are bracing for impact—or possibly protesting on Granville.
INJURY WATCH
- Winnipeg Jets: Mark Scheifele is ruled out of tonight’s must-win Game 7 against the Blues.
