Theatre Under the Stars returns to Vancouver’s Stanley Park

Vancouver’s beloved Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) invites audiences to step into a world of “Pure Imagination” and unstoppable optimism with its 2025 summer season lineup: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Legally Blonde The Musical. From June 27 to August 16, the Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park will once again transform into a magical, open-air stage showcasing two high-energy, family-friendly productions.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory brings Roald Dahl’s semi-sweet classic to life with dazzling performances and mouthwatering sets. Under the direction of Peter Jorgensen, this whimsical musical follows young Charlie Bucket and four eccentric children on a golden-ticket tour through Willy Wonka’s candy-filled factory. Expect a visual feast of Oompa Loompas, moral lessons, and iconic songs like “The Candy Man” and “Pure Imagination.”

Meanwhile, Legally Blonde The Musical returns by popular demand after a decade-long hiatus. Directed by Jayme Armstrong and choreographed by Lyndsey Britten, this glittery Broadway hit tells the story of Elle Woods, the underestimated sorority queen who charms her way into Harvard Law and proves there’s more to success than smarts. Starring Abby Woodhouse in her TUTS debut, the show promises a feel-good mix of friendship, ambition, and lots of hot pink.

In addition to the main shows, TUTS will host inclusive events like a VocalEye performance on July 25, Relaxed Performances (July 28 & 29), and PAL Vancouver donation nights (August 8 & 9). This season also debuts enhanced audio accessibility via the Betterear app, ensuring everyone can enjoy the magic of live theatre.
