The Township of Langley has unveiled plans for a new municipal nature park—Nathan Creek Wetlands Park—set to be developed in the scenic Glen Valley area, east of 264 Street and south of 80 Avenue. This forward-looking project reflects a growing commitment to environmental stewardship and habitat conservation within one of the fastest-growing communities in British Columbia.

The park will preserve key portions of the Glen Valley escarpment, a unique geological and ecological feature that supports a diverse array of native species. By protecting this sensitive natural area, the Township aims to enhance local biodiversity, provide essential green space, and support natural stormwater filtration and flood mitigation in the surrounding watershed.

“This isn’t just a park—it’s an investment in ecological resilience,” said a Township spokesperson. “Nathan Creek Wetlands Park will become a sanctuary for wildlife and a place of learning and connection for future generations.”

Once completed, the park is expected to feature walking trails, viewing platforms, and interpretive signage to help residents and visitors engage with the area’s natural heritage. The wetlands support a wide range of flora and fauna, including migratory birds, amphibians, and regionally significant plant species.

The project is currently in its early planning stages, with consultation underway to ensure it aligns with both environmental best practices and community needs. Local conservation groups have welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the importance of protecting wetland ecosystems amid ongoing urban development.

Nathan Creek Wetlands Park is poised to become a cornerstone of Langley’s green infrastructure strategy—balancing recreation, education, and conservation in one of the region’s most ecologically rich landscapes.
