Organization Background
Since its inception in 2019, Advocacy Initiative for Youth Development has remained steadfast in its mission to design and implement community-centric programs that address the nuanced challenges of displacement.

In partnership with Let’s Make THE Difference (LMTD), we launched the Peace and Conflict Resolution Outreach Campaign to bridge social divides and foster a culture of non-violence. The results have been transformative, yet we observe a critical need for sustained support as we look toward the 2026-2027 fiscal cycle.

The Power of Refugee-Led Organizations: Impact by the Numbers
Our approach remains very simple and solid. Our slogan is Peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of social infrastructure. AIYD and LMTD used a peer-to-peer methodology to achieve significant milestones.
Since we started the outreach campaign in September of 2024:
There have been 2000 direct beneficiaries in the Kalobeyei settlement camp who have participated in our intensive sessions on conflict resolution, community dialogues, and mediation.
Conflict alleviation was observed during this end of the year. Our internal monitoring indicates a marked decrease in major conflicts, leaders reported enhanced cooperation across diverse tribes, and social group.
The training is impacting every aspect of life in the camp, even to the next generations:
Teachers report better cooperation in the schools, reduced friction and the ability to have competitive sports programs without violence.
Employment for Refugees:involving Teaching Conflict Resolution
While working on the security, the program has also prioritized involving skilled refugees to facilitate and lead the sessions.
We have created job opportunities, providing dignified, professional roles for skilled refugees who often face high barriers to the formal labor market.
We build intellectual capital, the training transfers a cadre of peace builders who skill will remain an asset to the community.
Our facilitators share their lived experience and also describe the real situation of the camps to participants. The impact is transformational, and every participant at completion commits to becoming an advocate of peace.
The Road to 2027: A Call for Strategic Support
While the success in Kalobeyei is evident, peace building is an iterative process, which requires consistency to prevent resurgence of old grievance and to integrate new arrivals into the social fabric.

As we prepare for the 2026-2027, AIYD and LMTD Seek Sponsorships, Donors, and Partners.
