Harvest Haus returns to celebrate it's 10th year of bavarian-style merrymaking. Ten years ago, on October 2 to 6, 2014, The Social Concierge partnered with Wet Ape Productions to present the inaugural Harvest Haus. Since it had a one-year hiatus in 2015, even after 11 years, there were ten years of celebrations.
For four days, Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza was transformed into a multi-media mini Münich, encompassing everything from medieval minstrelsy to Bavarian brass oompah bands to live DJs. Harvest Haus is a celebration of German-European culture and West Coast bounty, presented in an immersive Oktoberfest-themed setting. Now in 2025, the festival has established itself as a beloved annual tradition that brings authentic European harvest celebrations to Vancouver's diverse cultural landscape.
The current event has found its perfect home at the PNE Forum Address: 2901 E. Hastings in Vancouver, BC, where the spacious venue accommodates the festival's growing popularity. TF Event Company worked with PNE; The Social Concierge; CollectiveX in the role of Site Management to provide 10,000 attendees in Vancouver, BC with a unique experience, demonstrating the scale and professional organization behind this annual celebration.
What to Expect at Harvest Haus
Upon entering through the SOUTH DOORS, closest to Hastings, visitors are transported into a traditional German beer hall atmosphere. The experience encompasses all the elements that make Oktoberfest celebrations legendary: NON-STOP BIER-DRINKING, BRATWURST-EATING, LEDERHOSEN-WEARING AND GOOD TIMES.
We're rolling out the barrels, combining modern fare with authentic European harvest cuisines and traditions. Join international and local chefs at their best, as they showcase new seasonal flavours along with Oktoberfest classics. The culinary experience extends beyond traditional German fare, offering authentic European-style dishes and traditions. Attendees are enthusiastic to partake in the global cuisines provided by local artisans offered exclusively at Harvest Haus.
The festival encourages full participation in German traditions. All guests attending are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the event, and dress is the best way to do so! If you don't have traditional outfits of your own, you can pick one up at the merch shoppe inside, until it sells out. For those who go all out, there's even competition for best dressed of the Harvest Haus Halle.
The Name Game: Why Not Oktoberfest?
While many similar events adopt the traditional "Oktoberfest" moniker, Harvest Haus has chosen a name that better reflects its Canadian identity while honouring European harvest traditions. The "Harvest Haus" branding creates a unique identity that distinguishes it from countless other Oktoberfest celebrations across North America, while still capturing the essence of the traditional German autumn festival. The word "Haus" maintains the Germanic connection while "Harvest" emphasizes the seasonal celebration of abundance that defines this time of year.
A Feast for the Senses
The culinary experience at Harvest Haus goes far beyond typical festival fare. The event features an impressive array of both traditional German specialties and innovative modern interpretations of European harvest cuisine. Local and international chefs collaborate to create exclusive dishes that can only be experienced at Harvest Haus, making each visit a unique gastronomic adventure.
Expect to find authentic bratwurst prepared in traditional styles, alongside creative fusion dishes that incorporate seasonal ingredients. The beverage selection naturally focuses on German beers, with multiple varieties of authentic brews served in proper steins to complete the Bavarian experience. The combination of food, drink, and atmosphere creates an immersive cultural experience that transports visitors directly to the heart of Bavaria.
Entertainment and Atmosphere
The festival doesn't just rely on food and drink to create its authentic German atmosphere. Traditional German music, including oompah bands and folk performances, fills the PNE Forum throughout the event. The venue is decorated to replicate a traditional beer hall, complete with communal seating that encourages socializing and the formation of new friendships over shared steins.
Interactive elements include traditional German games and activities, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the cultural experience. The best-dressed competition adds an element of fun competition, encouraging attendees to embrace the traditional lederhosen and dirndl attire that makes Oktoberfest celebrations so visually distinctive and festive.
