In the 2025 Canadian Federal Election, Vancouver's ridings showcased a notable political landscape with a mix of re-elected incumbents and pivotal shifts in representation. Vancouver Centre saw a familiar face return to Parliament as Hedy Fry of the Liberal Party was re-elected, continuing her lengthy political career in the heart of the city.
Over in Vancouver East, Jenny Kwan firmly maintained the New Democratic Party's (NDP) stronghold, winning 24,078 votes against Liberal candidate Mark Wiens, who garnered 19,626 votes. With 235 of 236 polls reporting, Kwan's victory reinforced her standing in a riding known for its progressive values.
In a significant development, Vancouver Fraserview-South Burnaby experienced a shift as Gregor Robertson, former mayor of Vancouver, now of the Liberal Party was projected to flip the riding from its previous NDP hold, hinting at changing tides within the local electorate. Vancouver Granville also saw continuity, with Taleeb Noormohamed securing re-election, further solidifying the Liberals’ dominance in Metro Vancouver.
The race in Vancouver Kingsway was a nail-biter, with Don Davies of the NDP narrowly winning against Liberal challenger Amy Gill, 18,259 votes to 17,951. This closely contested battle exemplified the competitive nature of the election, highlighting the divide in voter preferences.
Finally, Wade Grant of the Liberal Party stepped into a new role by succeeding Joyce Murray in Vancouver Quadra, further contributing to the Liberals’ impressive performance across the region. With many ridings leaning Liberal and the NDP retaining two key areas, these results underline the dynamic political landscape in Vancouver.
As the city navigates these fresh outcomes, voters and candidates alike await final validated results from Elections Canada amid pending special ballot counts.
