Lufthansa was named the world’s most family-friendly airline today by the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards, marking a major achievement for Germany’s national carrier. The honor was presented during a ceremony at the Paris Air Show, where industry leaders gathered to celebrate excellence in aviation.
In a standout year for the Lufthansa Group, the airline also received the award for Best First Class Lounge Worldwide for its First Class Terminal in Frankfurt. The airline’s premium offering—featuring private suites, heated or cooled seats, and limousine transfers to the aircraft—has redefined luxury air travel, setting a new global standard.
Austrian Airlines and Eurowings, also part of the Lufthansa Group, took home top accolades. Austrian Airlines was recognized for “Best Airline Staff in Europe,” while Eurowings earned the title of “Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe.” These awards are based on the feedback of 22.3 million travelers from over 100 countries, surveyed by Skytrax, the aviation market research institute that has run the annual survey since 1999.
Heiko Reitz, Chief Customer Officer of Lufthansa Airlines, expressed his pride in the recognition. “We are honored that our hospitality and attention to detail—from Economy to First Class—have been celebrated. It is our employees who bring this commitment to life every day.”
Lufthansa’s family-friendly focus includes colorful children’s meal trays featuring mascots “Lu” and “Cosmo,” puzzles, toys, cloud-shaped blankets, and custom entertainment for kids and teens. Young travelers can also enjoy new amenity kits and special boarding passes beginning this summer.
Meanwhile, the award-winning First Class Terminal in Frankfurt delivers on exclusivity. Passengers can relax in a private suite, access personal wardrobes, and enjoy a bespoke ambiance with ceiling-high walls, lockable doors, and customizable lighting.
Lufthansa’s latest First Class innovations—available on routes from Munich to global hubs like San Francisco and Shanghai—reflect a broader “premium offensive” that’s reshaping top-tier travel.
