Spring in the Fraser Valley means one thing—tulip season. And right now, the region’s most vibrant festivals are bursting into full bloom. Both Abbotsford’s Lakeland Flowers Tulip Festival and Harrison Tulip Festival have officially opened their fields to the public, transforming sprawling acres into oceans of colour.

Whether you're a photographer chasing the perfect golden hour shot, a family looking for a fun outdoor adventure, or simply in need of some floral therapy, this year’s festivals promise an unforgettable experience.

Abbotsford’s Lakeland Flowers Tulip Festival

Located along Marion Road in the heart of Abbotsford’s farmland, Lakeland Flowers has become a beloved springtime tradition. With over 5 million tulip bulbs planted across more than 27 acres, the display is nothing short of dazzling. Visitors can wander winding walking paths, take in panoramic views of Mount Baker framed by rows of vivid reds, purples, and yellows, and even pick their own bouquets to take home.

This year’s festival also includes local vendors, food trucks, and live music on weekends—perfect for turning a tulip stroll into a full-day outing.

Festival Dates: Late April through mid-May (weather dependent)
Tickets: Available online with flexible timed entry slots

Harrison Tulip Festival

Just a short drive away, the Harrison Tulip Festival (formerly known as the Chilliwack Tulip Festival) has made a grand return in a new location outside Harrison Hot Springs. Known for its dramatic backdrops and beautifully organized floral blocks, the festival features more than 40 tulip varieties, including classic blooms, fringed tulips, and parrot tulips.

What sets Harrison apart is the way the festival blends nature and nurture—wide open fields meet cozy gathering spots, photo stations, and even educational tours on tulip cultivation and sustainability.

Festival Dates: Through early May
Tickets: Must be purchased in advance online

A Fraser Valley Favourite

These festivals are more than just a chance to marvel at flowers—they’re a celebration of local agriculture, community spirit, and the fleeting beauty of spring. They support family-owned farms, attract tourism, and offer a unique way for people to connect with nature in their own backyard.

With thousands expected to visit over the coming weeks, locals are encouraged to plan ahead, wear comfortable shoes, and of course, bring their cameras.

Whether you're heading out to Abbotsford or making a day trip to Harrison, tulip season is one of the most joyful times of year in the Lower Mainland. Don’t miss your chance to see the Fraser Valley in full bloom.
