Vancouver prepares to shine as the beloved Lumière Festival returns for its 12th year, transforming downtown into a radiant celebration of art, light, and community. Running from November 13 to 16, the festival invites visitors to experience the city under the powerful theme of "Unity"—a reminder that we shine brightest together.

This year's festival brings spectacular light installations to select locations across downtown Vancouver, the West End, and Gastown. Featured works include DecaDance by TheEgg Arts Society at Jim Deva Plaza, a mesmerizing ten-sided pavilion with mirrored walls and a spinning LED pole creating an immersive visual experience. At 1800 Davie Plaza, Squamish artist Melanie Lazelle presents Memories of Colour, an illuminated coral reef installation that celebrates ocean beauty while raising awareness about coral bleaching and environmental preservation.

Downtown Vancouver becomes a glowing gallery around the Vancouver Art Gallery, showcasing multiple installations including CONVERGE by Interim Collective, featuring intersecting laser beams that respond to movement and connection. Artist Niko Tiainen returns with Iridescence, a generative projection exploring perception and environmental transformation. Additional works include Apogee by Chalk River Labs, Painting Mirror by Maxime Touroute, and the interactive Poems of Positivity by Orolosky Studio.

The festival runs nightly from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, remaining completely free and accessible to all. This commitment to inclusivity ensures that everyone can participate in this extraordinary cultural experience, regardless of background or financial means. Families, art enthusiasts, and curious visitors are all welcome to wander through these luminous installations and discover downtown Vancouver illuminated like never before.
