Vancouver's vibrant arts community will converge this summer for the 5th Annual Eastside Arts Festival, running July 18-27, 2025. This milestone edition promises to be the most dynamic celebration of the Eastside Arts District's flourishing creative scene, featuring an expanded lineup of workshops, performances, and community events across various studios, breweries, and venues.

The festival showcases the district's multidisciplinary arts offerings through an unprecedented number of hands-on workshops. Art enthusiasts can explore unique techniques including eco-printing with indigo artist Naomi Yamamoto, goldwork embroidery with textile artist Candice Weber, and felted mason jar cozy covers with felt expert Chantal Cardinal. These affordable $35 workshops run daily at artist studios and local breweries, providing intimate behind-the-scenes experiences with practicing artists.

"We are thrilled to mark our 5th anniversary with our most dynamic and culturally rich exploration of the EAD's vibrant arts and culture scene yet," says Esther Rausenberg, Artistic Director of Eastside Arts Society. The festival particularly welcomes those familiar with the annual Eastside Culture Crawl to dig deeper into the district's cultural heritage.

Music lovers can catch emerging artists Young Friend, Babe Corner, and Kylie V at The Rickshaw Theatre on July 25, featuring genre-bending indie rock and nostalgic pop sounds. The festival's crown jewel is the free all-day outdoor celebration at MacLean Park on July 26, sponsored by Strathcona BIA. This family-friendly event features live performances by Janky Bungag, Twin River, The ReViberators, and Madelyn Read, alongside a Festival Shop, art activities, food trucks, and a beer garden hosted by Strange Fellows Brewing.

Cultural exploration extends beyond art-making through guided neighborhood walking tours led by Hogan's Alley Society, Heritage Vancouver Society, and the 360 Riot Walk. The festival also introduces the Eastside Arts Society Beer Passport, allowing participants to sample beverages at eight local breweries while supporting artist programs.

With workshops at $35, walking tours at $20, and performances ranging from $20-$60, the festival offers accessible entry points for all community members. Complete schedules and tickets are available at eastsideartsfest.ca.
