WHISTLER, B.C. The 20th anniversary edition of Crankworx Whistler blasted out of the start gate this weekend, turning the village into the global capital of mountain biking once again. Riders, fans, and industry legends descended on the Sea to Sky corridor for a jam-packed opening lineup that delivered speed, style, and serious stoke.

Saturday’s curtain-raiser featured RockShox Canadian Open Downhill training and finals, setting the tone with all-out speed runs that had spectators lining the course from start to finish. Adding to the adrenaline, the Canadian Open Enduro tested riders with grueling multi-stage racing, pushing both fitness and technical skills to their limits. The buzz in the village was electric, with the expo area filled with bike demos, gear launches, and pro meet-and-greets for fans.

Family-friendly action came courtesy of Kidsworx clinics and the aMTB Flow DH finals, where adaptive mountain biking athletes put down inspiring, crowd-pleasing runs. As the sun dipped behind Whistler’s peaks, the Aspire evening event at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre brought together riders and fans for a cultural celebration that blended sport, music, and art. The evening was capped with storytelling from athletes about their journeys to Crankworx.

Sunday kept the wheels spinning with Enduro finals, the Liv A-Line women-only session, highlighting female talent on one of Whistler’s most iconic flow trails, and a festival atmosphere that kept stoke levels high across the village. Crowds spilled into the surrounding patios, creating an energy that carried well into the night.

Crankworx Whistler’s opening weekend once again showcased why the event is the crown jewel of the Crankworx World Tour. From world champions throwing down podium runs to groms learning their first berms, the festival’s blend of elite competition and grassroots accessibility makes it unlike anything else in mountain biking.

The action now shifts into an intense week of competition, including Dual Slalom, Garbanzo DH, and the crowd-favorite Whip-Off World Championships before next weekend’s showstopper, Red Bull Joyride.
