Car Free Days of Summer Vancouver is back, ready to turn city streets into vibrant pedestrian zones filled with music, food, art, and community spirit. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 6 on Commercial Drive and Sunday, September 14 on Main Street—two unforgettable celebrations of sustainability and connection.

But this year, organizers are sounding the alarm: community support is urgently needed to keep the beloved festival alive.

“In recent years, festivals like ours have faced increasing challenges due to rising costs, and we are not immune to this reality,” says the Car Free Vancouver Society Team. “To ensure the continued success of Car Free Days, we've launched a GoFundMe campaign and are asking those who cherish this event to stand with us.”

Your contributions will:

  • Keep the 2025 festival running
  • Fund free vendor spaces for Indigenous and low-income artists
  • Support a sustainable, zero-waste future for Vancouver

The event has come a long way since its grassroots origins in 2004, when 25,000 people gathered on Commercial Drive for the very first Car Free Day. Since then, the festival has grown to include multiple sites and welcomes hundreds of thousands of attendees.

As always, festival-goers are encouraged to walk, cycle, or use transit, and enjoy eco-conscious festivities featuring local vendors, performers, and community booths. Each location reflects the vibrant spirit of its neighborhood while honoring the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Now is the time to act. Donate, share, volunteer—every little bit helps to make 2025 the best Car Free Days yet.
