There’s a lot of talk about "waking up" these days. The implication is a mass awakening leading to a collective leap in human consciousness. There’s likely a lot of truth in this. There appears to proof for this. The world is shaking, and it seems to be shaking people awake. But it's not enough.

Waking up is just the first nudge in the right direction. Because what does “waking up” really do for us if it keeps us stuck in our heads?

We don’t need more insights, but sight within. We need incorporation; literally, in-corp-orating. In other words, bringing new awareness into the body.

Our next move isn’t necessarily up. It’s down.

Waking down means grounding this new awareness in our physical being. It means shifting attention out of mental loops and into the quiet brilliance of the gut; what science is now calling our “second brain.” It means listening to the heart, which ancient Eastern traditions and modern neuroscience alike consider a form of intelligence in its own right. Traditional Chinese Medicine acknowledges three brains: the head, the heart, and the gut. Western science is catching up. But you don't need to wait.

Why?

There's a deeper realization emerging across physics, spirituality, quantum science and lived experience: we're all connected. Not just conceptually. Actually. An 8-billion-person family. And if you don't buy that, know this: there's no Planet B or Plan B.

But we do have a Plan Be. It's Being connected. Not to thoughts; connection isn’t a thought. It’s a resonance on the level of nervous the system. A felt sense knowing – not the intellectual kind – but in the body. This is our oft-ignored internal guidance system.

We all have more waking up to do. But more importantly, we gotta' wake down. Get into the body, into presence, into relationship with self, others, and Earth.

This is where real connection lives and we thrive. All of us.

But it doesn't – it can't – happen above the neck.
