If you’re still relying on cold calls and coffee meetings to raise capital, it’s time for a wake-up call. In today’s digital-first world, the investors winning big are those building credibility before they ever pick up the phone.
In the latest Let’s Talk Real Estate Investing podcast, Vancouver-based realtor and content creator Cameron Manning dropped powerful truths about using social media to grow your brand and raise capital; even if you’re camera-shy. With 17 years in real estate and a decade of online storytelling, Cameron proves you don’t need a huge following to make a huge impact.
“Social media is the best way to show people you’re an authority,” Cameron shared. “You don’t need to be perfect; you just need to start.” His advice? Begin small. Use stories on Instagram or Facebook, which disappear in 24 hours, to build confidence in front of the camera. Over time, that consistency turns into credibility.
Cameron believes every investor has valuable content locked inside their daily routines; they just need to share it. “People don’t relate to perfection,” he said. “They connect with authenticity.” Whether you’re touring a property, analyzing numbers, or venting about a bad day, documenting your journey builds trust. The key is edutainment, content that educates and entertains.
And if you’re stuck on what to post, AI can help. Cameron recommends using tools like ChatGPT or AnswerThePublic.com to spark ideas. “There are no excuses anymore,” he said. “You can have 100 post ideas in minutes; the hard part is just doing it.”
He also emphasizes that even a small audience can yield big results. “If 200 people watch your video, that’s like speaking to a full room,” he noted. One of his posts with only 210 views led to three real estate transactions, proof that impact matters more than vanity metrics.
Cameron’s top tip for investors: show up where your audience lives. For raising capital, focus on Facebook groups and LinkedIn to build professional credibility. For realtors and content creators, platforms like YouTube and Instagram boost visibility and SEO.
His closing message was simple yet powerful: “Stop waiting to be perfect. Start posting, be yourself, and your audience will find you.”
