Saudi Arabia is going all-in on artificial intelligence—and it just enlisted a major U.S. chipmaker to help lead the charge. The Kingdom’s new AI investment arm, Humain, has unveiled a $10 billion commitment to building a global AI backbone. The initiative will include hyperscale data centers, clean energy infrastructure, and a high-speed fiber-optic network connecting Riyadh to the United States.

AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) will supply chips and software for the rollout. While it’s not yet confirmed whether AMD is investing capital or participating solely as a vendor, the partnership marks a potentially strategic pivot—aligning with sovereign-backed AI initiatives as an alternative to competing solely in Big Tech’s saturated ecosystem. AMD CEO Lisa Su called the deal a “significant milestone,” pointing to the creation of a globally scaled AI architecture that could challenge existing systems in both openness and reach.

With Nvidia also expected to contribute chips, Humain appears to be diversifying its hardware alliances across the AI spectrum. The announcement came during the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum in Riyadh, where the presence of former President Donald Trump underscored the geopolitical weight of the deal.

For AMD, this is a chance to expand market share in a segment long dominated by Nvidia. Meanwhile, reports suggest the U.S. government is close to finalizing a deal that would grant Saudi Arabia broader access to advanced semiconductors—even as restrictions tighten on China.

This move could spark a wave of sovereign AI projects emerging from the Gulf, positioning U.S. chipmakers—particularly those outside the Big Tech elite—to benefit. For investors, this is more than a data center expansion. It signals a potential rebalancing of global AI power—and a powerful new demand driver for the semiconductor industry.
