HANNOVER MESSE, the world's premier manufacturing trade fair, is breaking new ground with the introduction of its Defense Production Area—a specialized exhibition platform designed to address the urgent need for enhanced defense manufacturing capabilities. Set to debut at the Hannover Exhibition Center, this innovative format reflects the growing recognition that modern defense requires not just advanced weaponry, but sophisticated, scalable production systems.
Located strategically in Hall 26, the Defense Production Area will serve as a dedicated hub where defense and security manufacturers can explore cutting-edge production technologies. The platform brings together suppliers showcasing solutions that span the entire industrial value chain, from automation and additive manufacturing to digitalization and advanced materials. This comprehensive approach enables defense contractors to identify actionable solutions for rapidly scaling their manufacturing capacity while maintaining the security standards critical to their operations.
"HANNOVER MESSE shows how artificial intelligence, digitalization, and automation are making the factories of today and tomorrow more efficient, flexible, and productive," explains Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG. "The new Defense Production Area offers visitors from the defense and security industry in particular a central location to learn about solutions for scaling their production safely and efficiently."
The timing of this initiative is particularly significant. As global security challenges evolve, defence industries across Europe and beyond are under increasing pressure to expand production capabilities quickly without compromising quality or security. The Defence Production Area addresses this challenge by creating a focused environment where manufacturers can engage in targeted dialogue about industrial production for security-critical applications.
A key advantage of the platform is its location within HANNOVER MESSE's broader ecosystem. Hall 26's position offers direct access to complementary segments including robotics, logistics, IT/OT security, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and Wireless & Cloud technologies. These synergies enable defence manufacturers to explore integrated solutions that leverage the latest industrial innovations.
The Defence Production Area will operate in partnership with Defence & Security Equipment International Germany (DSEI Germany), which plans its inaugural event at the Hannover Exhibition Centre in March 2027. This collaboration strengthens the platform's connection to the broader defensive community.
HANNOVER MESSE 2026 runs from April 20-24, with Brazil serving as Partner Country.
