Deutsche Lufthansa AG held its 72nd Annual General Meeting recently, drawing the attention of around 1,500 shareholders who participated online. Representing 42.16 percent of the total share capital, the virtual assembly saw all nine agenda items approved by a significant majority, signalling strong shareholder confidence in the airline group’s direction and leadership.
One of the central resolutions included the appropriation of balance sheet profits, which will see a dividend of EUR 0.30 per share distributed to shareholders. This move reflects Lufthansa’s ongoing recovery and cautious return to profitability following years of pandemic-related disruptions.
The meeting also confirmed shareholder support for the executive leadership team. Both the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board were granted approval for their actions during the 2024 financial year. This endorsement suggests satisfaction with the company’s current performance and strategic initiatives, including network expansion, digital innovation, and sustainability efforts.
Significant changes to the Supervisory Board were also addressed. Long-serving members Erich Clementi, Dr. Astrid Stange, and Angela Titzrath were re-elected, providing continuity and experience. In a notable new appointment, Dr. Alexis von Hoensbroech, CEO of Canadian carrier WestJet Airlines, was elected to the Supervisory Board. His international experience and leadership in the North American aviation market are expected to bring valuable perspectives to Lufthansa’s global strategy.
The successful AGM underlines Lufthansa’s regained stability and future-focused outlook. With a revitalized board and renewed shareholder backing, the airline appears well-positioned to navigate both current industry challenges and new opportunities on the horizon.
