Tragedy has a way of stopping us in our tracks. It pulls us out of routine and forces us to face what really matters. In light of recent events, I find myself more committed than ever to living with less judgment, more compassion, and greater allowance for the differences that exist among us.

When I heard the news of Charlie Kirk’s passing, I was horrified and broke down and cried.  Now, I didn’t agree with everything he said, however, his death was tragic, and he was a fellow human being.

When we’re confronted with loss, it’s easy to cling tighter to what divides us — opinions, politics, beliefs. But in truth, tragedy calls us to soften, not harden. It reminds us that behind every opinion is a human being, often with a family and a spouse.  And behind every disagreement is a shared desire to be heard, loved, and understood.

For me, this means slowing down before reacting. It means asking: Can I make space for another perspective? Can I listen without the need to be right? These small shifts in personal behavior ripple outward into families, friendships, and even boardrooms.

For entrepreneurs and business leaders, this commitment matters. A culture of judgment stifles collaboration and innovation, but a culture of allowance fuels trust, creativity, and resilience. The more we welcome differences, the stronger our communities and businesses become.

We can’t control others or what tragedies come, but we can control how we respond and our daily behavior, thoughts, and actions. And my choice is clear: more love, less judgment. More unity, less division. Because at the end of the day, that’s the legacy worth leaving.

And at the end of the day, we all want the SAME thing.  May we find the true desires of our heart, in UNITY.
