HANNOVER MESSE and the "Made for Germany" initiative unite industry, technology, and politics in a bold push to scale artificial intelligence across German and European manufacturing.

A Strategic Gathering of Industry Giants

Germany is making its move. HANNOVER MESSE, the world's leading trade fair for the manufacturing industry, is placing artificial intelligence squarely at the heart of Europe's industrial agenda when it opens its doors in Hannover from April 20 to 24, 2026. Under the banner "AI in Industry," the event will bring together top executives, government ministers, and investors to tackle one of the most pressing questions facing modern economies: how do you move AI from boardroom strategy to factory floor reality?

800 Billion Euros and a United Front

The "Made for Germany" initiative is backing this ambition with serious firepower. The coalition of 126 leading companies and investors has committed to deploying more than 800 billion euros in Germany between 2025 and 2028, targeting innovation, infrastructure, job creation, and AI deployment. On April 20, its members will take to the Center Stage at HANNOVER MESSE alongside some of the biggest names in global business.

DAX CEOs Roland Busch of Siemens, Christian Klein of SAP, and Tim Höttges of Deutsche Telekom will share the stage with Accenture CEO Julie Sweet and Schneider Electric Chairman Jean-Pascal Tricoire. The group — likely joined by Chancellor Friedrich Merz — will address the infrastructure, data ecosystems, and real-world conditions that Germany must establish to lead the next wave of industrial AI.

Government Steps In

Germany's new federal government is not standing on the sidelines. Several ministers will participate throughout the day, each addressing a distinct dimension of the industrial AI challenge. Federal Minister for Digital Transformation Karsten Wildberger will focus on cloud systems and data infrastructure, while Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will highlight AI's role in building resilient industrial structures. Research Minister Dorothee Bär will champion startups and knowledge transfer, and Economic Affairs Minister Katherina Reiche will connect AI investment to Germany's broader competitiveness agenda.

More Than Technology — A Strategic Imperative

HANNOVER MESSE is delivering a clear message to the global business community: AI is no longer a technology story. It has become a matter of strategic infrastructure, economic security, and long-term industrial value creation. Germany is positioning itself to lead — and it wants Europe to follow.
