For most entrepreneurs, failure is something they'd rather forget. At Fuckup Nights Vancouver, it's the reason everyone comes together.
In a business world where success is often carefully curated on social media, Fuckup Nights Vancouver offers something refreshingly different: honest conversations about the setbacks, mistakes, and difficult decisions that ultimately shaped successful careers. The event reminds us that failure isn't the opposite of success. It's often part of the journey.
Over the past year, David Sheng has quietly helped grow the Vancouver chapter of Fuckup Nights, creating a welcoming community where founders, business leaders, and professionals can openly share the setbacks, lessons, and unexpected moments that shaped their journeys.
Since relaunching the Vancouver chapter, the team has successfully hosted three flagship events on Granville Island, expanded into the Fraser Valley with an additional event, and welcomed roughly 80 attendees to each Vancouver gathering. Along the way, nine local entrepreneurs and business leaders have stepped onto the stage to share honest conversations about failure, resilience, and growth, stories that often resonate far more than tales of uninterrupted success.
The next event takes place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Alexander Innovation Centre in downtown Vancouver. Guests can expect an evening of authentic storytelling, meaningful networking, and practical insights from entrepreneurs willing to share the moments that rarely make it into keynote speeches or polished LinkedIn success posts.
Tickets are available now through Eventbrite:
Among this month's featured speakers is Earl Flormata, President of Business Network Media, returning to the Fuckup Nights Vancouver stage six years after first sharing one of his own entrepreneurial failures with a Vancouver audience. This year's presentation promises an entirely new story and another reminder that some of life's greatest lessons begin when things don't go according to plan.
Each speaker brings a unique perspective, but a common theme connects every presentation: resilience. Whether the challenge was launching a business, managing rapid growth, recovering from financial setbacks, or making difficult leadership decisions, attendees leave with practical lessons they can apply to their own entrepreneurial journeys.
While every event features different speakers and different experiences, the mission remains the same: create a space where people can be candid about failure, celebrate resilience, and help others avoid making the same mistakes. Thanks to the dedication of David Sheng and the organizing team behind the scenes, Fuckup Nights Vancouver continues to grow into one of the city's most unique and authentic business communities.
Whether you're a founder, executive, student, or simply someone who enjoys authentic stories with meaningful takeaways, Fuckup Nights Vancouver offers an evening of laughter, learning, connection, and the reminder that every successful journey includes chapters most people never see.
Sometimes the most valuable business advice doesn't come from hearing what went right. It comes from understanding what went wrong, why it happened, and how someone found the determination to keep moving forward.
We look forward to seeing you on July 30.
