WHISTLER, B.C. The third day of Crankworx Whistler’s 20th anniversary brought a potent mix of elite racing, festival energy, and the kind of atmosphere only Whistler can deliver. The OG Canadian Open Downhill made its triumphant return, and the competition didn’t disappoint.
In the Elite Men’s category, Australia’s Luke Meier-Smith claimed gold with a blistering time of 2:45.004, edging fellow Aussie Jackson Frew by just 0.279 seconds. Canada’s Dane Jewett charged into third, keeping local pride high.
On the Elite Women’s side, Norway’s Mille Johnset proved unstoppable, earning her second straight Crankworx DH victory in Whistler with a time of 3:12.573. Canadian Emmy Lan took silver, and Indy Deavoll of New Zealand secured bronze.
The day also shone a spotlight on the next generation with Kidsworx Enduro podiums that had the village buzzing. Emilie Simeur and Jackson Beliveau stood tall in the U13 divisions, setting the tone for future Crankworx champions.
Outside the start gates, Whistler Village was alive with expo booths, bike demos, and brand activations. Fans mingled with athletes, got hands-on with the latest gear, and soaked up the mountain-town magic. New additions like the Bosch eMTB Challenge and Outdoor Research Trick Showdown promise to keep the stoke high all week.
Next up, the Canadian Open Enduro Finals, the Liv A-Line women-only session, and aMTB Flow DH will keep the energy rolling into the evening. And with events like Dual Slalom, Garbanzo DH, and the Whip-Off World Championships still to come, the best may be yet to ride.
