Canadian businesses impacted by U.S. tariffs can now access targeted relief and support programs from the Government of Canada. In response to recent trade tensions, a range of measures has been introduced to ease financial pressure and help businesses stay competitive globally.

The Department of Finance Canada, in collaboration with the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS), offers guidance for companies navigating tariff-related challenges. Businesses exporting to the U.S. can continue to access duty-free benefits under the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), provided they meet the agreement’s rules of origin. A dedicated compliance support line and detailed step-by-step guide ensure exporters are fully informed and protected from unexpected duties.

Financial relief is also available. The Canada Revenue Agency is deferring GST/HST and corporate tax payments and waiving interest charges for affected companies from April 2 to June 30, 2025—no application needed. Meanwhile, Farm Credit Canada has introduced $1 billion in new lending for agri-food businesses through the Trade Disruption Customer Support program.

To simplify operations, the Canada Tariff Finder and Canada Border Services Agency provide up-to-date information to help businesses determine accurate tariff rates and streamline cross-border trade.

Additional support includes the CanExport SMEs program, offering up to $50,000 for eligible businesses to expand internationally, and Export Development Canada's Trade Expansion Lending Program (TELP), which helps secure capital for new contracts or markets.

Creative industries and tech companies are also invited to leverage programs like the Creative Export Strategy and Canadian Technology Accelerators to grow internationally.

Whether you're a small manufacturer or a large agri-food exporter, Canada’s comprehensive response ensures you’re supported through tariff disruptions and beyond.
