Nation-wide fan zones to feature 40 stops across the country during 2026 World Cup
FIFA has unveiled an ambitious plan to bring World Cup fever to communities across Canada with the launch of "Canada Celebrates," a free, nationwide viewing party program that will transform public spaces into vibrant fan zones throughout the tournament.
The program will feature up to 40 stops across Canada, strategically located so that more than 75% of Canadian residents will be within a two-hour drive of a celebration site. Running from June 11 through July 19, 2026, these pop-up fan zones will offer live match screenings on large outdoor screens, alongside football activities, cultural programming, live music, and food options.
"Canada Celebrates is about bringing people together to experience the magic of the FIFA World Cup, regardless of whether they can attend matches in person," organizers said. The initiative ensures that fans from coast to coast can participate in the excitement of hosting the world's biggest sporting event.
The program launches simultaneously on June 11 in a British Columbia city and Halifax, Nova Scotia, before expanding to communities nationwide. While the complete list of participating cities hasn't been announced, FIFA has promised that locations will span urban centers and smaller communities alike, democratizing access to World Cup celebrations.
Each Canada Celebrates site will feature giant viewing screens for live match broadcasts, interactive football activities for all ages, and cultural programming celebrating Canada's diversity and the global nature of the beautiful game. All events will be free to attend, removing financial barriers and encouraging families and communities to gather and celebrate together.
The announcement comes as Vancouver prepares to host seven FIFA World Cup matches at BC Place Stadium, including games on June 13, 16, 19, 22, 26, and July 2, with a Round of 32 match on July 5. The city is also planning its own FIFA Fan Festival at the PNE grounds, which will run throughout the tournament.
FIFA officials have indicated that more details about specific Canada Celebrates locations, programming schedules, and local partnerships will be revealed in the coming months. Communities interested in hosting a celebration site are encouraged to stay tuned to official FIFA and Canada Soccer channels for updates.
The Canada Celebrates program represents one of the most extensive public viewing initiatives ever organized for a FIFA World Cup, reflecting the tournament's expansion and Canada's role as a co-host nation.
