Toronto, ON — The Toronto Blue Jays just reminded the baseball world what “Canadian resilience” looks like. After a shaky start to the American League Championship Series, dropping the first two games to Seattle, the Jays clawed back with grit, determination, and a few home runs that made even casual fans sit up and notice.

Now, after a 6–2 win in Game 6, they have forced a do-or-die Game 7, their first shot at the World Series since 1993.

Full Disclosure: I’m Not Much of a Baseball Fan

I’ll be honest, I’m not much of a baseball fan.
In my opinion, it’s about as exciting as watching paint dry on a cold Vancouver afternoon.

But even I have to admit, this run has been hard to ignore. There’s something magnetic about watching a team fight through slumps, criticism, and pressure, and still find a way to deliver when it counts. That kind of persistence? I can respect that, much like the struggles in my business.

Running Tsquared Personal Training in downtown Vancouver hasn’t been a walk in the park either. There have been lean months, tough competitors, and moments when I’ve questioned the grind. But just like the Jays, I learned that staying consistent through the rough innings pays off. You adapt, dig deep, and keep swinging because quitting is never an option.

The Stars Step Up

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is carrying the offence like a man possessed, tying the franchise record for postseason home runs with six. Rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage also stepped up big, striking out seven in just over five innings and proving that calm under pressure isn’t just for veterans.

It’s the kind of “next man up” mentality you see in elite sports and in any great team or business that refuses to fold when it gets tough.

From Cold Starts to Hot Streaks

The Blue Jays’ season started rough, no sugar-coating it. Inconsistent hitting, bullpen breakdowns, and stretches where fans wondered if they’d even make the playoffs.

Then, midseason, something clicked. They went on a tear, winning 15 of 19 at home, and brought that fire into October. It’s that classic Canadian formula: start slow, get counted out, then punch back when it matters most.

The Fitness Parallel

In training, this is what I call the grind phase.
You’ve got the plan, you’ve had setbacks, maybe your motivation dipped, but you still show up. Then, one day, everything clicks. You start lifting stronger, moving better, feeling sharper.

That’s the Blue Jays right now. They’re proof that with enough consistency, patience, and belief, momentum shifts and results come fast.

Game 7: The Moment of Truth

Now it’s all on the line. The Jays travel to Seattle for Game 7, and Canada’s watching. Can the bullpen hold? Can the bats stay hot? Will they finally bring playoff glory back north of the border?

Either way, whether you’re a die-hard or a reluctant fan like me, this series has shown what hard work and perseverance can do. You don’t have to love the sport to appreciate the story.
