In 2027, Apple will mark a major milestone: the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone. According to MacRumors, the company is preparing something bold to commemorate the occasion—a radical redesign that could finally bring Apple’s long-standing dream of a truly all-screen iPhone to life.

Dubbed by fans as the potential “iPhone XX,” the flagship device for 2027 may feature an edge-to-edge display with no visible bezels, cutouts, or camera notches. Apple is reportedly working on embedding both the front-facing camera and Face ID technology beneath the display, creating a seamless glass look. This futuristic design would likely debut on the high-end iPhone 19 Pro models.

This development is said to fulfill a vision once championed by former Apple design chief Jony Ive, who imagined an iPhone made entirely of glass—clean, minimalist, and screen from corner to corner. While Apple made a significant leap in 2017 with the iPhone X by removing the home button and debuting Face ID, the 2027 iPhone could mark an even greater design evolution.

Still, everything at this stage is speculative. The original report stems from MacRumors, which cited multiple unnamed sources. And while Apple is known for pushing the boundaries of innovation, it's worth noting that the technology required for this level of seamless integration may not even fully exist yet. But with rapid progress in AI and hardware design, nothing seems too far-fetched.

As a stepping stone, the 2025 iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to include under-display Face ID, leaving only a small pinhole for the camera—bringing us one step closer to the all-screen dream.
