Inclusive Hiring Recognized

At the 2025 Inclusive Employer Excellence Awards, five local businesses were honored for their commitment to inclusive hiring practices. Chalo Freshco, Minuteman Press, Kal Tire, Tracycakes, and the Abbotsford School District received accolades for supporting individuals with diverse abilities, showcasing how inclusive employment strengthens both community and business.

Youth Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship

Keenan Beavis, founder of Longhouse Branding and Marketing, launched the Longhouse Business Award this year, providing five $2,000 scholarships to aspiring young entrepreneurs. Beyond financial support, recipients gain access to workshops on digital marketing, branding, and storytelling, equipping the next generation with tools for success.

Community Events Foster Connection

The inaugural "Run for Abbotsford" charity event, held on April 28 at Mill Lake Park, brought together residents for a 5K run and 1K walk, raising funds for the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. Organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, the event highlighted the power of community-driven initiatives.

Neighbourhood Grants Spark Local Projects

The City of Abbotsford, in partnership with community foundations, continues to offer Neighbourhood Small Grants of up to $1,000. These grants empower residents to launch projects that foster community connection, beautify neighborhoods, and enhance safety.
